Kelli and Nick’s Best Day Ever by Sunshine Coast Celebrant Amanda Jensen

Normally I don’t do blogs about the wedding days themselves – this is a first!
Reason being because frankly I don’t have enough time (but I currently have a couples weeks off from weddings and have been working on scripts and doing plenty of meetings, so I am ahead of myself).
FYI it took me two weeks to put this together and another four to post it.
I received an album from a photographer the other week, the last one for the year 2025. Asha Photography, Gympie based, to be exact, (awesome chick) and I was scratching my head trying to work out how to showcase these photos and explain all the things I did for this wedding
A blog?! Perfect.
This wedding was quite a serendipitous one with some really amazing changes that worked out for the best.
It all started when I received a phone call from Kelli – nothing to do with her wedding. Kelli was about to MC an event I was booked to sing at. Kelli was doing some research as any good MC would do to get some information about what was going to happen on the day and who the entertainment was going to be.
We hit it off instantly and automatically, probably my fault, got talking about weddings and how hers was coming up in October, and she wanted to pick my brain a bit more about what I offer, other than my music services.
Following that Kelli started to talk to me all about her “hot surfer guy”, Nick, who was her perfect match and that was the moment I knew I was going to be meeting him and we were planning this wedding together.
How is this serendipitious you might ask? Well, I never ended up doing the event – it was canceled due to its being held the weekend of Cyclone Alfred – what a pain he was (that’s a whole other story)
The Wedding
Let’s fast forward to the day before the wedding because I don’t need to fill you in on the in-between and planning, I will just explain things as I go.
We meet for a rehearsal, which was great because there was a bridal party of 10. The plan was to get married on Mooloolaba Beach, then there was the worry of it being
- The first weekend of school holidays in the Sunshine Coast
- The wind was being extra windy
- The logistic of the guest being able to find the right spot
So we used planned B which turned out to be the best choice ever!
The ceremony and reception were held at The Maroochy Surf Club.
We didn’t have to worry about the crowds, the wind or the guests getting lost.
One thing we couldn’t have ever guessed is there was a nipper’s event on the beach a once in a 6 month event, so I was told. See photo – best decision ever to move it inside.

Although they had their hearts set on the sand between their toes for the ceremony which didn’t happen they certainly made the most of the beach for their couple and bridal photos.
The Highlights
I got to do a duo 🎵
Quiet often with weddings I get asked to learn a songs which is included in my package (see my four-in- one package to read what’s included)
I was asked if a very special family member, Penny, would be able to sing a song with me and if I would learn it. Yes, Yes, YES! This was so exciting for me – learning a new song and have someone else sing it. I took care of the guitar and the backing vocals.
Well, it went off with a bang as the recessional song for the ceremony, the only down fall – Kelli told me afterwards was no one recorded it!

The Flowers were sensational
I walk into the room and said “OMG is this real”!? And it certainly was. Kelli had asked me to wear a dress that she saw on my website which was going to compliment the flowers and the bridesmaids perfectly – don’t ever be afraid to ask me to wear a particular dress, its welcomed!
The set up was by Splash Events and they took care of the flowers as well.

I stayed all night for the party
When you book me as your Sunshine Coast Celebrant and use my four in one package I am there until the end – the last woman standing (in more than one way)
It was this night during the dance floor that Asha – Gympie photography brought to my attention that I have a very serious face when I DJ. She whipped her camera out and we had the biggest laugh at how seriously I looked – like I was about to perform open heart surgery, instead it was working out what song was going to work next.
Since that day I have been sure to work on my DJ face, I already have worked out what my celebrant and singing face look like (sorry about that) but this one I can improve.
